WHAT ARE SEDIMENTS?

Where the water is not moving or flowing, the small particles (earth, sand or stones) that are floating in the water sink to the bottom. These deposits are called sediments. And if such sediments are left for a very, very long time and are pressed together, they can become as solid as stone.
